Perhaps she had failed her focus once more, and her crystal statue had been brought to this new and interesting place? Perhaps she had just got lost somehow?

But, what she did know was that she knew no one here (or at least, she hadn't met anyone she knew) and that she had been given lots of paperwork and a weird mobile phone like thing called a passport.

"Fang.. where are you?", she mutters under her breath, glancing outside to see if she could spot her.

But, nothing.

She didn't like this at all. She just wanted to go back home...

comments

It was bad enough not having his airship here; he would have gladly slept in there if he did. This building looked dingy, to say the least. (And probably entirely lacked a good drycleaner anywhere in the vicinity.)

It was better than nothing, though, and certainly better than a dungeon. He couldn't complain too much.]

comments

Attempt to make lattes without messing it up!

"Alright, I'll give it a try," Usagi said out loud, "After all, how hard can it be!"

Want to prove her wrong?

comments

There... were dancers, but... this hadn’t been what she’d intended. The dancer she found herself staring at--and it was so surprising she couldn’t bring herself to look away--was not wearing much clothing, and seemed to be in the process of taking off what was there.

That... wasn't what they expected her to do, was it? She was going to have to find whoever her manager her was and get that sorted out...

comments

It was quite the greeting, she had to admit. She couldn't say she was too pleased about having suddenly been transported to some other dimension, but at least the people were friendly. She would probably be glad for that by the time she'd been here a week or so.

Though for the moment, she was perfectly content to be sitting alone and generally ignoring the passersby. Anyone who chose to pay attention to her would find a rather distant look on her face. In fact, her thoughts were somewhere else entirely. After everything she'd been told, she didn't expect to be able to get in contact with Ba'ul from here, but there wasn't any reason not to give it one more try...

comments

Canon List

Posted by: siglen_modding

Here is where you can notify the mod about any canons that are missing from the tag list. If you don't see a tag for your canon and you think one should exist, please comment here and I'll add it as soon as possible. If the canon you are posting from is very obscure, please use the tag "[canon] obscure."

Thank you!

Edit: This post is going to have a long list of tags attached to it, as they seem to be set to private unless an entry is using them, which makes it difficult if someone wants to use a tag for the first time (which will happen quite a bit since I premade tags for canons I know are popular). If anyone knows how to make the tags available without just making a huge list of them here, please let me know.

comments

Welcome to Siglen: FAQ

Posted by: siglen_modding

Who runs this place?

Currently there is only one mod who goes by the name of Wei. She can be reached via PM to the siglen_mods journal, on AIM at weijiangling, or by email at jiang1ling2 at gmail. She is very busy, so if you have any general questions or comments about the game, please direct them to this feedback post.

Though they are not presently involved in modding here, credit for the concept and some of the information text goes to the original creators of the now-defunct roleplay, siglen_city.

Is there a preferred format for posting?

Whatever works best for you. The most common formats are prose (Narrative text unmarked and "dialogue in quotes") and bracket ([Narrative text in brackets and] dialogue unmarked). Whether players write in first or third person is up to them as well. Keep in mind that not everyone will be comfortable writing in the same style, so please try to be understanding.

What do I do if the canon I'm posting from doesn't have a tag?

Let the mod know! There's a handy little page for listing canons that need tags right here. I will try to keep this updated as well as I can.

comments

Welcome to Siglen: Miasma

Posted by: siglen_modding

What is miasma?

Do you notice that strange smell or taste in the air as you arrive? That's miasma. You'll get accustomed to it soon enough.

Miasma is a natural phenomenon in the world of Siglen. It's normally imperceptible, but on days when it's particularly heavy, it may be visible as a light haze. But whether you are aware of it or not, it is always there, and it does have an effect. The natives of Siglen even include miasma levels in their daily weather report.

Whatever it is, it makes the ground fertile and the local wildlife peaceful. The only problems it causes are with the visitors, who don't always understand.

What are its effects?

Prolonged exposure to miasma has a number of psychological effects on characters, more severe as time goes on. But never fear, the effects can always be reversed! The hormones released by an orgasm have been proven time and time again to remove any effects the miasma has produced.

Usually characters will start to feel the effects after about a week or so. It takes another week for the miasma's influence to fully take over. The symptoms characters are likely to experience are as follows:

Day 1: Heightening of the senses. Touch, taste, smell, etc.
Day 2: Lowering of inhibitions, both sexual and ethical.
Day 3: Frequent disorientation and forgetfulness.
Day 4: Loss of any powers a character may have had.
Day 5: Partial amnesia.
Day 6: Full amnesia.
Day 7: Utter madness.

Keep in mind that the miasma is not an aphrodisiac. That said, every character has been informed that an orgasm is the solution, and even without that awareness, the body has an unconscious idea.

At any point in the process, the effects can be reversed by having sex with another person. It is also possible to take care of the problem yourself, but the result isn't as potent. A character who has sex with another person will be as if they were never affected by the miasma; they will be free of any effects for a week or so. A character who masturbates will get rid of the effects for a day or so, but then they will come back, and stronger. If a character does this for several days starting with the first of the effects, they will soon get to a point where their sense are so heightened that the slightest touch would be distractingly arousing.

At times when the miasma is especially heavy, it can produce unpredictable side-effects that make even the natives a bit wary. There will periodically be High Miasma Warnings posted, with information about what kind of effects characters may experience. It's possible that not everyone would be affected in the same way, so participation in events is not at all mandatory. They're just there as potentially fun ideas.

What if my character goes crazy and then no one will sleep with them?

Siglen does have a small security force dedicated to capturing people who are miasma-crazed and taking care of the problem, so if you want to make your character stop being crazy, you can assume your character was caught. They could also force someone to help them get their sanity back, but keep in mind that because Siglen natives are very open and believe that one should never be unable to find a willing partner, rape is taken as a serious crime in Siglen.

What if I don't want to write smut all the time/want to more often?

This premise is designed to give you freedom in what kind of interaction you want to play. For example, anyone who doesn't want to actually write out their character having sex can simply assume that one of the natives helped them get rid of the miasma's effects. The natives are perfectly open about such things, and if all else fails, there are a number of brothels around. For those who want more sexytimes, there's nothing stopping characters from doing it without being miasma affected (it's a good way to keep from being affected in the first place), or from being available to help anyone else who might need it. You're also free to assume that your character is particularly susceptible/resistant to the miasma, so it would take them a shorter/longer time to be affected.

comments

Welcome to Siglen: Setting

Posted by: siglen_modding

Siglen is a city located on the western side of a large island. To the north, forest and mountain; to the east, farmland; to the south, rocky beaches and a hearty fishing industry. It's a prosperous place where the people are productive and happy.

Wouldn't you be? Everything they eat is delicious. They have all the creature comforts of modern technology yet seem to retain all the confidence and optimism of the highly-socialized. And they have sex all the time and they enjoy it.

The very atmosphere of their world has made it so that it's impossible for their culture to have developed any shame about sexuality. Any adult in Siglen must have sex regularly or they suffer, therefore sex must be not only acceptable, but natural! What's the problem with sex? What's wrong with livening up sex with a few kinks or toys? And what's embarrassing about talking about it?

Then, of course, there are the new arrivals. Siglen, you see, is located in the precise center of the world in the precise center of the universe in the precise center of the whole amazing dimension. People are just -- drawn there, once in a hundred lifetimes. The natives are very accustomed to it, and they'll welcome you with open arms. They even have a government institution to help you get settled.

But there is institutionalized discrimination in place against newcomers: it's just very gentle discrimination. A child of a native and a newcomer would be a full Siglen citizen, but newcomers are not allowed to run for public office, leave the island, etc, and some other privileges are only allowed after a certain amount of time. For example, they will only be allowed to acquire vehicles or licenses to operate vehicles if they have lived is Siglen with a clean record for two full years. And many, many natives privately have the prejudice that newcomers are stuffy or petty for their sex-negative views, and they may be surprised if a newcomer isn't like that, or express skepticism if they have serious sexual issues.

It isn't that they aren't completely accepting of you. They just view you through their tinted lenses. The same way you view them. So there's no problem, right?

You'll get by.

Areas in Siglen

The Commons: This is a very pastoral, welcoming area of Siglen. It has a lovely park, some adorable little cafes and bakeries, a nice grocery store, a lovely tall white clocktower, a bookstore, and a few other small businesses. It also has the Reception Bureau, where polite, trained staff are ready to get every disoriented newcomer to the city ready to start a productive new life.

Old Town: This is where you'll probably be staying. Old Town is near the north side of the city and it's not the best area: the apartments here are small, maybe 500 square feet, but it is where you are assigned by default, and it's probably the only place with rent you can afford until you've saved up for a while. It has a few of the businesses you'd expect for a low-end residential area: some cheaper restaurants, a few bars, convenience stores and small grocery shops. And, of course, a strip club.

First Ward, Second Ward, Third Ward: This is the bulk of the city. The First Ward is a little older, and contains the Siglen Institute of Higher Education, where some lucky newcomers are even allowed to attend. All three areas feature houses and more well-off apartment complexes that you may be able to move into once you've been working for a while. It also has fancy restaurants and bars, electronics stores, a hospital and a library, movie theaters, brothels... Basically, if you can find it in a standard city, it'll be in one of these areas. Plus brothels.

The Waterfront District: Here you'll find a small marina of boats, the only part of the harbor open to the public. There are fishing spots and a few cute theme restaurants, but the real attraction in this area is the shopping along the boardwalk, all sorts of cheap stylish goods and trendy little stores. There's a casino at the north end where it approaches Old Town.

comments
